AI systems may not be getting your brand wrong because they are hallucinating.
They may be getting it wrong because your source material leaves too much for the machine to infer.
Search Engine Land published a useful piece this week on schema and AI search. The core point: schema is no longer just a way to chase rich results. It is infrastructure for helping search engines and LLMs understand your site.
That matters because AI systems do not only read pages. They connect entities.
They need to understand what your business is, what you sell, who you serve, what problems you solve, what proof supports your claims, and how your products, services, people, locations, partners, categories, and next steps relate.
If those relationships are unclear, your AI visibility problem may not be a content-volume problem.
It may be an entity gap.
Start with these five:
Your business identity gap: Can machines clearly identify who you are, what you do, and which entity is the source of truth?
Your offer/category gap: Can machines connect your products or services to the categories buyers actually search, compare, and ask about?
Your audience/use-case gap: Can machines tell who your offer is for, when it fits, and when it does not?
Your proof/outcome gap: Can machines verify your claims through case studies, reviews, third-party citations, structured data, and measurable outcomes?
Your relationship/next-step gap: Can machines understand how your pages, offers, locations, people, integrations, policies, and conversion paths connect?
This is why schema matters, but it is also why schema alone is not enough.
The question is not simply whether your website has markup.
The better question is whether your digital estate gives AI systems enough machine-readable evidence to describe your brand accurately, compare you fairly, and route buyers to the right next step.
If AI is narrating your brand, your entity gaps are where the story breaks.
Start here: audit those five gaps before trusting how AI systems describe your brand.
If you want those gaps reviewed across your website, schema, source material, and conversion paths, the next step is a Machine-First Audit and Roadmap.
