I’m running a little behind on this week’s newsletter.

I hate that, but I have a legitimate excuse.

I’ve spent the week spiraling down a rabbit hole of new data from the 2026 State of Generative Search report, and it’s blown me away.

It’s inspired me to create a massive resource based on these findings, but I don’t want to wait until I’m finished to share a few eye-popping insights with you:

  • The Invisibility Crisis: 94% of brands are still investing heavily in traditional SEO, yet 62% of them are "technically invisible" to Generative AI.

  • The Traffic Collapse: Organic click-through rates for informational queries have dropped by 61% since AI Overviews took over. The traffic hasn’t vanished; it’s been absorbed by the interface.

  • The Tipping Point: Data shows 8 out of 10 mobile searches now result in "Zero-Clicks." The AI answers, and the user never leaves the search page.

The takeaway: If you are measuring your success by “legacy” SEO metrics, you are measuring a recession.

The new battleground isn't "Ranking #1."

It's "Earning the Citation."

I'm deep in the process of writing a roadmap to bridge this gap.

AI-search readiness is a complex new marketing discipline that requires deep knowledge of

  • technical SEO

  • content strategy

  • web development

to be successful.

We are tackling everything from the "Schema Gap" (where AI is forced to guess who you are) to the logic of Entity Consensus.

I'll have the full deep-dive ready for you soon.

In the meantime, I want you to ask yourself one question:

If an AI agent had to find a reason to cite your brand over your competitor in 50 words or less, would it have the data to do it, or would it just skip you?

Stay tuned. We’re about to move from "Legacy Search" to "Neural Architecture."

Talk soon,
